Injured Giants star Tom Green has floated a left-field name to be considered in All-Australian calculations.
GWS has a number of stars who would all be pushing for AA selection in 2026, including first-year Giant Clayton Oliver, his midfield mate Finn Callaghan, and rebounding pair Lachie Ash and Lachie Whitfield.
But there is an under-the-radar youngster who must be thrown up in conversations according to Green.
“There’s the obvious ones like Clayton Oliver, Finn Callaghan, Lachie Ash, Lachie Whitfield - I think those guys will be around the mark,” the 2025 Giants B&F said on SEN Breakfast.
“A sneaky one who I’m glad to hear on the coverage was getting a lot of love because I think he’s really underrated - Harvey Thomas.
“On a wing, he just keeps racking up touches and kicking goals. The other side of the game, which maybe doesn’t get analysed as closely, is defensively. He is stellar at that as well.
“Harvey Thomas is having a massive year. What he’s doing for us on a wing I can’t speak highly enough of.”
In his third season, the Pick 59 from 2023 has taken his game to a new level as a winger.
Thomas is averaging 20.6 disposals (up from 11.6), 3.8 tackles (up from 2.8), 2.4 inside 50s (up from 1.8), and 2.6 rebound 50s (up from 0.7).
The 20-year-old has polled coaches votes in two of his past three games, including four against Melbourne on the weekend.
Giants gun Green was also asked to name his AA midfield as it currently stands.
“I like Nick Daicos, I’d say Zak Butters who has had a very good year too,” he said.
“It could be easy for me to go with Bont (Marcus Bontempelli), but I’m going to go with Bailey Smith instead.
“I think ‘Baz’ has had a really good year and Geelong have been flying.”
Green, who is contracted until the end of 2027, also spoke to Garry Lyon and Tim Watson about his future with the Giants.
