Report: Stephenson misses out on list spot at Port
Jaidyn Stephenson’s return to the AFL has taken a setback.
It’s been reported by Tom Morris that Port Adelaide has decided not to offer the 2018 Rising Star a list spot after training with the club throughout the pre-season.
Having been given a train-on spot in Josh Carr’s first pre-season as head coach, the former Magpie/Kangaroo has shown good signs after having retired from AFL in 2024.
So much so that Channel 7’s Josh Money said on SEN that Stephenson was “a lock” to get a list spot through the Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) as of last month.
Port Adelaide has yet to confirm this news, and if they’ll offer any other train-on players a contract on their rookie list.
The club has three list spots available with the SSP window closing on March 2.
The Power begin their season on March 15 against Stephenson’s old side in North Melbourne in Round 1.
