Richmond young gun handed one-match suspension

Richmond’s Jonty Faull is set to miss the Tigers’ clash against the Suns after being handed a one-match suspension.

Following an incident which saw the 20-year-old punch Carlton’s Jacob Weitering in the gut during the second quarter of Richmond’s four-point loss to the Blues.

The gut punch would be enough for Weitering to go down and need assistance off the field, which saw the MRO grade the incident as intentional, making medium contact to his body.

With this ruling, Faull is unable to accept an early plea, meaning the Tigers would have to appeal to the tribunal to be reduced.

Richmond will host the Suns at the MCG on March 21.
