"Highly likely": Could Fogarty be facing a lengthy suspension?

With the Crows claiming a crucial win away from home, they are now facing the possibility of being without key forward Darcy Fogarty for the rest of their home and away season.
The 26-year-old was one of Adelaide’s best in their 16-point win over the Swans in Sydney on Friday night, managing to boot four goals in wet conditions with the Crows jumping into the top four.
But during the second quarter of their win, the forward made contact with Harry Cunningham’s head whilst he attempted to tackle the Swan.
Cunningham took no further part in the game with a concussion, leaving Fogarty sweating on the MRO’s findings from the match.
And according to SEN’s Sam Edmund, Fogarty could face a lengthy suspension from the incident, which would see him unavailable for the majority of their home and away campaign.
“There’s a very real chance the Crows cop a kick in the gut here, and Fogarty is cited and suspended for that clash with (Harry) Cunningham that saw the Swan concussed,” Edmund explained on SEN’s Crunch Time.
“Now there's nothing from the AFL as yet, of course, if at all, but as we sit here now, I'd say it's highly likely he's gonna be offered a suspension.
“At first glance, you might be inclined to think it's a high tackle and not a reportable offence, but it is a swinging arm to the head that then turns into a tackle.
“This would be a striking charge if it goes that way and if you run it through the table, maybe careless, severe and high.
“But I think there's some chance that it goes straight to the tribunal, which would mean the AFL would be pushing for 4+ weeks, which would be a massive blow for an Adelaide side starting to look ominous.”
The MRO will hand down its findings from Friday’s clash sometime during the weekend.
The Crows will begin the Round 20 action at Adelaide Oval when they host Collingwood in a rematch from last year’s qualifying final.
That begins from 7:30pm AEST (7pm local time).
