Fagan repeats selfless act, honours injured Lion with premiership medal

In yet another touching tribute, Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has once again given away his premiership medal.
Following Brisbane’s 2024 drought-breaking Grand Final, the premiership coach selflessly gave away his premiership medal to ruckman Oscar McInerney, who suffered from a dislocated shoulder in the Lions’ Preliminary Final win.
Missing the Grand Final, McInerney was not awarded a premiership medal despite playing in all but one game across the 2024 season, with Fagan awarding the ruckman with his own medal in an expression of gratitude.
And following the Lions’ triumph against the Cats in 2025, Fagan has once again passed on his winners’ medal, handing down the award to luckless Lion Jarrod Berry.
Berry featured in 24 games for the Lions this season, unfortunately suffering the same fate as Oscar McInerney in dislocating his shoulder during the Preliminary Final.
As a result of the injury, Berry was forced out of the 2025 premiership side, missing out on a back-to-back premiership medal.
However, as revealed by 7News reporter Xander McGuire, Fagan has repeated his selfless honour, handing down his medal to Berry following their brilliant win on Saturday afternoon.
A touching tribute from the two-time premiership coach.
