Chol set to miss the start of next season

The MRO has handed down a three-match ban on Hawthorn’s Mabior Chol for his tackle on Geelong’s Tom Stewart.
The five-time All-Australian was left concussed in the first quarter from a tackle by the Hawthorn forward in which he was driven into the ground.
This will mean that Stewart will enter the AFL’s concussion protocols and will miss the Grand Final, which is a huge blow to the Cats.
The Match Review Officer, in its initial findings, deemed that Chol’s tackle on Stewart was careless, high contact and severe in impact.
Reacting to the news as it was delivered, Hawks legend Dermott Brereton called the decision ridiculous.
“That is ridiculous,” he said on SEN’s pre-game coverage.
“News will come any moment now that they’ll challenge that even though it’s the end of the season.”
Hawthorn will decide whether or not to appeal the decision in the coming days.
