Trade talk: Tom Morris' mid-year trade update
SEN’s Tom Morris has given an update on a range of trade stories circling after the mid-week byes.
Excluding the likes of Zak Butters, Zac Bailey, Ben King and the usual names, Morris went into detail on a range of potential exits as the end of the 2026 season approaches.
From Bomber stars to last year’s wantaway Saint, Morris explored a selection of moves on SEN Breakfast as of the first of July.
See his updates below:

Essendon wantaways
Zach Merrett wants to go to Hawthorn,” Morris said.
Jordan Ridley wants to go to Queensland – I’ve got my eyes more on the Gold Coast, whereas last year was Brisbane.
“Both are contracted, both are managed by the same person, Nick Gieschen. That will take some negotiations from him to the club, and also the clubs that those players want to go to.
Darcy Parish, I think if Parish was a free agent, he would look to go. But I think it’s harder for Parish because he is contracted, and I’m not sure there’s any real suiters for him. At his best he is an excellent player.
Kyle Langford’s contracted until the end of next year, so I’m unaware of any interest in him.
Elijah Tsatas is out of contract, he was out of favour with Brad Scott as well and he was a high draft pick.
“I would imagine there would be a home for Tsatas id he had a look, but I’m not sure Essendon is going to get a lot back for him given they haven’t been playing him.
Jade Gresham has a games-based trigger clause that he hasn’t hit yet, which would trigger another year. He has been out of favour as well, so he is one to watch at the end of the season.
“I’m not sure whether there’d be a home for him next year.”
Logan Morris (Brisbane)
Logan Morris could be worth an absolute bomb when he’s out of contract. He is not out of contract yet.
“I’m thinking $1.5 to $1.7, maybe even $2 million a year, a club will be willing to pay him.
“Not sure whether the Brisbane Lions can afford that, but they can’t also afford to lose him. He is a star right now, let alone a star of the future as well.”
Jed Walter (Gold Coast)
I haven’t heard Geelong and Jed Walter for a while, I think that’s more Collingwood and Essendon. Gold Coast have offered Jed Walter a five-year extension worth around $4.5 million total. I think everyone is just waiting on Ben King and what he does, including Jed Walter himself.
Rowan Marshall (St Kilda)
“I don’t know whether he is going to look to get out to the Cats again.
“He is still a contracted player; they held him last year the Saints. Will they hold him again?
“They might absolutely do that, but he certainly wanted to get to the Cats last year.”
Tom Sparrow (Melbourne)
“The feeling from Melbourne people is that Sparrow is more likely to stay.”
