“Lachie, if you’re listening”: De Goey’s message to Pies target Neale

Collingwood star Jordan De Goey thinks Brisbane’s Lachie Neale would fit in nicely in black and white.
The Magpies have been heavily linked to the 33-year-old, who becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, with Collingwood reportedly keen to table the gun midfielder a three-year deal.
While that offer has divided many football pundits, De Goey himself would be thrilled to play alongside the classy player when asked if he’s taken any notice of the talk in the media.
“I did see that. I've been seeing that a little bit, to be honest,” De Goey said on SEN Breakfast.
“For sure, he's a class player; he's done some amazing things at Brisbane.
“I don't know if he’ll enjoy the Melbourne weather, but, other than that, I think he'd fit in nicely.”
While he’s one of Collingwood’s biggest names, De Goey himself doesn’t do any of the behind-the-scenes work to try to recruit players from rival clubs like his midfield teammate Nick Daicos.
Even though he hasn’t spoken to Neale personally, De Goey sent out a message to the Lions star while speaking to David King and Kane Cornes.
“Not particularly on my end. But there's a couple of blokes (that do speak behind-the-scenes),” De Goey said.
“Nick's probably one of them. He's probably talking to everyone, ringing everyone and trying to offer them contracts himself.
“But not on my end. I think at the end of the day, players pretty much know whether they want to come or they don't want to come.
“But definitely, he'd be a great fit. So, Lachie, if you’re listening, mate, come on, get on down.”
De Goey himself also becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2027 season.
While he’s playing some of his best footy in recent years in 2026, De Goey says he’s yet to engage in talks on a new contract.
“Not that I know about,” De Goey said in regard to whether talks have begun on a new deal.
“My brother-in-law is actually my manager, so we speak briefly, but it's honestly not about that for me right now.
“It's just playing the best footy I can, because that's how I can support the team, and what happens after that will happen after that.
“I'm just going to continue to keep trying to contribute to the team and play my role and hopefully get some more wins.
“Obviously, that's the plan (being a Magpie for life). As I said, I’ve started at the club, and I’d love to finish at the club.
“But the footy world has changed landscape at times. So, I'll just do my best for what I can for the team, and that's all I can do.”
De Goey and the Magpies’ immediate focus is on their Saturday night clash against Port Adelaide at the MCG.
