Bobby Hill makes Collingwood return amid extended leave
Bobby Hill is back at Collingwood.
Hill today walked back in the doors at Magpies HQ for the first time in months in another significant step towards a return to the game.
The 2023 Norm Smith medallist, on indefinite leave since early January, today reunited with teammates, coaches and staff at the KGM Centre.
The reunion was not about training, but reconnecting with the club on his path back to football.
Hill has been a regular sight at suburban ovals in recent weeks, with the company of a training partner, with the Pies encouraged by his consistency and desire to get back into top shape.
The mercurial forward is said to have added weight and fitness, while progressing into a good space mentally ahead today’s visit to the club.
Should consistent progress continue to be made, it is hoped the 26-year-old can return to Collingwood training and with an eye to playing again in the months to come.
Hill signed a four-year contract last April, but has played only seven games since, the last of them as a substitute against Brisbane in Round 21.
Collingwood coach Craig McRae last month told SEN Breakfast he remained hopeful Hill would return to the game.
“Bobby is working on himself at the moment. We're hoping that he'll be in the program in the short or medium term. We'll see how that progresses,” McRae said.
"We'll continue to love and support him, and at the right time, get him in the environment to push forward for high performance.”
