Will Nasiah's contract call help Saints keep in-demand midfielder?
It’s been one of the most joyous weeks at the St Kilda football club in recent years with the two-year re-signing of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.
Ask any Saints fan and they will tell you it was a weight off their shoulders like no other in recent times. The desperation was palpable.
Re-signings galore have followed with Liam Stocker, Dougal Howard, Paddy Dow, Liam O’Connell and Isaac Keeler all committing to the club for one more season.
This alongside the compelling reports around Tom De Koning, Liam Ryan and Leek Aleer and it is hard to hide from the surge of anticipation for 2026 and beyond at the club.
“We’ve seen the immediate effect of it at St Kilda. It makes it easier for them to sign their players and for them to be an attraction for other players,” afl.com.au’s Cal Twomey explained.

“Everyone has wanted to know internally and externally what Nasiah is going to do.”
This includes young midfielder Marcus Windhager who has flourished in the second half of the season, breaking away from his synonymous tagging persona to be a free-running and effective ball-user and winner for the Saints.
The joy felt after the re-signing Wanganeen-Milera would certainly be dampened if one of his best friends at the club and his former housemate decided he wants out.
SEN Breakfast’s Garry Lyon and Tim Watson inquired whether the re-singing of Nasiah has had any impact on the out-of-contract Windhager’s decision making.
“Not yet, but I think that would have been further away if Nas had left, to put it that way,” Twomey said.
“He's got a two-year offer there from St Kilda. He's got longer term offers on the table from other clubs as well. We know, North Melbourne has a five-year offer for him. Melbourne is right in it as well. Essendon has been right in it as well.
“I think if you're going to be into Windhager, you're going to be offering four-plus years across the board.
“So, there's still a bit of a gap there (with St Kilda’s offer), but I think if Nasiah was going, it would have been an even harder task to re-sign, Windhager.”
The 22-year-old will play his 74th game for St Kilda against GWS this Sunday, Stephen Silvagni, Graeme Allan and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera will be doing all they can to ensure it’s not his last.
