$1M raised and TV records broken as Legends returned to Marvel
Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is proud to celebrate the resounding success of last night’s Four’N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer, which saw a crowd of over 30,000 pack Marvel Stadium and helped raise more than $1 million for the Australian Prostate Centre.
The event’s broadcast across the Seven Network was also the biggest AFL audience of the year, with more than 2.3 million Australians tuning in on Seven and 7plus Sport. The match had an average national total TV audience of 879,000, as well as Seven’s highest-rating streaming audience for the season with 130,000.
After a six-year hiatus, the iconic event returned with renewed energy and purpose.
Superstars such as Gary Ablett, Cyril Rioli, Erin Phillips, Luke Hodge and Nick Riewoldt joined celebrities such as Matt Shirvington and Dave Hughes and social media juggernauts like Daniel Gorringe and Tom ‘Prime Train’ Baulch in raising vital funds and catching the imagination of younger audiences and families alike.
The match was made possible by Four’N Twenty and an army of corporate partners who innovated in broadcast, venue and social.
The game was broadcast live nationally on 7 and 7plus Sport - produced by SEN’s television arm Rainmaker - with the event delivered in partnership with Ballpark Entertainment. It was also called on radio on SEN stations around Australia.
The game itself was a thrilling spectacle, with the All Stars edging out Victoria in a nail-biting finish, 3.13.7 (112) to 3.11.11 (104). Fan-favourite, Dan Gorringe kicked the match-winner, while Cyril Rioli was named Player of the Match for his electrifying performance, including a stunning torpedo goal from distance. Coaches Tim Watson and Shane Crawford led their respective sides.
SEN played a pivotal role in reviving the Legends Game, with 2025 marking 30 years since the passing of E.J. Whitten Snr, whose legacy continues to inspire the fight against prostate cancer. The final crowd figure of 31,320 means the 2025 edition of the Legends Game was the most highly attended in 25 editions of the event.
CEO of SEN, Craig Hutchison, said the event was exactly what he hoped it would be – a night of footy and fun for the fans, all whilst raising money for a very important cause.
“We’re incredibly proud to partner with RULE Prostate Cancer to drive much needed funds and awareness to a cancer that hits almost 1 in 5 men,” Hutchison said.
“We thank the legends of AFL football who gave their hearts and effort to drive this cause and the Seven Network for their incredible support.
“It was brilliant to see legends like Cyril Rioli and Gary Ablett Jr return to the game they love, alongside a long list of stars and AFL icons headlined by Hodge, Riewoldt, Phillips, and Brendan Fevola to bring back the iconic match and connect to a new and younger audience.
“It was an incredible night for the community and for football, more broadly.”
Hutchison also thanked the Victorian Government, which announced a $150,000 donation on the night directly to RULE Prostate Cancer.
