History made: Tassie Stadium receives final vote of approval

The Macquarie Point Stadium is Tasmania has officially received the green light, securing majority support to pass the Legislative Council and commence construction ahead of 2028.
The $1.13 billion stadium remained on a knife's edge over months of parliamentary debating, however following yesterday's confirmed support from key independent Bec Thomas, construction of the waterfront stadium appeared all but certain to go ahead.
As revealed on Wednesday afternoon, Montgomery Independent Casey Hiscutt provided his vote of approval, marking the eighth and final 'yes' required for the stadium's construction to officially pass through parliament.
Following this result, the Tasmania Devils are now eligible to enter the AFL as the 19th official team, with the stadium ticking off the final box to satisfy all entry requirements set out by the AFL.
