Crows champions calls for straight swap for troubled Blue

Adelaide premiership captain Mark Bickley has floated a potential player swap between Carlton and Adelaide involving out-of-favour players Elijah Hollands and Lachlan Sholl.
Carlton coach Michael Voss declared on SEN's Fireball on Monday morning that Hollands has been told to find a new home amid off-field issues across the last two years.
The former Pick 7 has played 27 games across two seasons in navy blue and still has one year left on a two-year deal he signed in mid 2024.
Sholl has built a reputation as a reliable wingman across the last five years at Adelaide, however, has struggled to break into the team this year as the Crows have risen sharply up the ladder.
The 25-year-old signed a two-year extension in July last year but could look elsewhere in order to find more playing time.
Intriguingly, Sholl’s father Brett played 35 games for the Blues between 1992 and 1994, and the club could look to bring in another wingman to support Elijah's brother, Ollie Hollands, and Blake Acres.
Bickley said both clubs should look at striking up a deal as long as the Crows were confident they could help Hollands with his off-field problems.
“You back your own culture to bring someone in if there is someone with problems or challenges and you look after them,” Bickley told SEN SA Breakfast on Tuesday Morning.
“A bit like Geelong - they have made a habit of doing that. You think of Bailey Smith, that is quite celebrated, Tyson Stengle is another one.
“Good cultures can nurture people.
“In regards to Sholl and Hollands I think that looks about right.
“I looked at what they did this season; they both played five games each this season.
“Your hand gets forced a little bit if you are Carlton when you say go away and try and find another home.
“You’re basically saying we don’t want you and Sholl has probably become surplus to needs.
“Billy Dowling and Zac Taylor and others have overtaken him, so it might be a good fit for both.”
Sholl is averaging 14 disposals in his five games in 2025 while Hollands averages 17 touches per game.
