West Coast’s Jayden Hunt has announced his retirement.
The 30-year-old wingman and half-back has called time on his career after 172 games over 12 seasons with two clubs.
"I’d like to thank the West Coast Eagles," Hunt said in a club statement. "I’ve really enjoyed my three years at the Club.
"The staff, coaches and my teammates welcomed me in straight away and made it really enjoyable.
"While it’s been tough on the field, I’ve enjoyed the challenges and I’m excited to see what the future holds for this promising young group. I’m sure they will rise up the ladder soon.
"I’d also like to thank Melbourne for drafting me out of school. I was there for nine years, and they shaped me as a person and as a footballer.
"I would also like to thank my friends and family for all their support over the journey and I’m looking forward to what comes next."
Hunt was drafted by Melbourne with Pick 57 in 2013 before debuting for the Demons in 2016.
He played 114 games in red and blue, including 20 games in 2021, but was overlooked for Melbourne’s premiership that year.
The Melburnian joined the Eagles prior to the 2023 season and went on to play 58 games in the west.
He walks through the exit door alongside delisted trio Jack Petruccelle, Callum Jamieson and Loch Rawlinson.
Petruccelle played 90 games and kicked 71 goals across eight season while Jamieson played 17 and Rawlinson played one senior game.
"Callum, Jack, and Loch are outstanding young men who have been valued members of our playing group," Matt Clarke, the club’s Head of List Management and Recruiting, said in a statement.
"On behalf of the Club, I thank them for their commitment and professionalism throughout their time at West Coast.
"Callum and Jack, in particular, showed great resilience and determination to overcome injury setbacks, earning respect from their teammates and staff.
"This is always a difficult time of year, but each of these players can be proud of the way they represented the Club.
"We wish them all the best with their future endeavours, and they will always be part of the West Coast Eagles."
