Trade talk: Star Pie gettable if clubs table longer offer
Collingwood is set to enter an interesting off-season as they attempt to re-sign their two leading goalkickers Jamie Elliott and Brody Mihocek.
Elliott, who turned 33 on Thursday, is an unrestricted free agent and is being monitored Gold Coast if he were to explore his options.
But having kicked 50 goals from 22 games in 2025 as he hunts a maiden All-Australian blazer, AFL Media’s Cal Twomey foresees him remaining at Collingwood, where he currently has a two-year deal on the table to remain a one-club player.
While Twomey doesn’t expect Elliott to move on, he says there’s been no movement on landing his signature on that deal despite it being tabled to him weeks ago.
“I’m interested in what they (Collingwood) do,” Twomey told SEN Breakfast.
“Elliott's got the two-year offer there, and there’s still no movement there at all.
“He has got a bit of a pull to Queensland, which we've known about previously as well. So, there's still a watch there.
“I think the most likely scenario would be that Elliott stays, particularly given his form this year.”

Mihocek, who has kicked 35 goals from 19 games this season, also will be 33 by the time the 2026 season rolls around, and reports have suggested the Pies have only offered the key forward a one-year extension.
As a result, Twomey thinks that the five-time leading goalkicker could be on the move if a rival club comes with a longer-term deal.
“But Mihocek I think is up for the taking if someone comes with a longer offer,” Twomey said.
“His manager has been overseas in recent weeks, so that’s probably stopped that one in its tracks in recent times.
“Obviously, they're in the chase for Jack Silvagni as well as a free agent.
“So, they're juggling a few things after managing to get the Darcy Cameron deal done recently too.”
The Magpies face the Demons at the MCG on Friday night as they look to give themselves a chance of finishing top four.
