Former Magpie, Lion and Fremantle wingman/defender James Aish has called time on his AFL career.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a successful 12-year career across the three sides, selected by Brisbane with the seventh overall pick in 2013 and playing 186 games over his journey at the top level.
After a strong start to his AFL career with the Lions, Aish shifted to the Magpies in 2016 having played 32 games in his first two seasons. Mounting 50 games across four seasons in the black and white including the Magpies’ heartbreaking Grand Final loss in 2018, it was Fremantle that proved the best fit for Aish, featuring in 101 games from 2020 to 2024.
With his contract running out at the end of 2025, Aish could only break into the senior set-up three times this season, calling time on a top career following the Dockers’ September exit.
"It's been a privilege to have played across three really good team in three states," said Aish.
"It's brought great challenges with moving, meeting new teammates and playing new positions, but it’s also been a blessing to meet great people along the way.
"When I look back on my career the real value has been bringing joy to my family, friends, fans and staff."
