Hawks cut young out-of-contract defender
Hawthorn has made a further list change, delisting defender Seamus Mitchell in the lead up to the AFL Draft.
The 23-year-old was drafted in the second round in 2020, developing in the VFL system before debuting in 2023.
In his debut season, Mitchell played 14 times with the Hawks, averaging near 17 disposals and five marks per game. Since '23, the defender only managed 14 games, four of which came this season as he remained behind the likes of recruits Tom Barrass and Josh Battle.

“It’s always a difficult time of the year and these decisions are never easy, but we’d like to acknowledge Seamus’ contribution to the club,” list manager Mark McKenzie said.
“He was a respected teammate who showed great resilience and commitment over his five seasons at Hawthorn.
“We wish him all the best for his next chapter.”
