FORMER Essendon coach Ben Rutten has been appointed Port Adelaide’s new head of football.
Rutten will take charge of a Power football department in the wake of Chris Davies’ move to Carlton and with Josh Carr now in the coaches seat.
Rutten was sacked as Bombers coach at the end of 2022 - and with a year to run on his contract - after new president Dave Barham approached Alastair Clarkson while Rutten was still in charge.
Rutten then returned to Richmond as an assistant under Damien Hardwick before taking on a coaching performance and development role at the Tigers.
But the 229-game Crows defender will now return to Adelaide to form part of a new era at the Power.
