“A good fit”: Famous Carlton name linked to Collingwood

Collingwood is reportedly showing interest in Carlton’s Jack Silvagni.
A report in the Herald Sun suggests the Magpies have “emerged as a shock suitor” for the Blues defender who becomes an unrestricted free agent this year.
Silvagni, who is carrying on the famous Carlton surname, is yet to re-sign with the Blues and it has become apparent that the Magpies are keen.
The 27-year-old has been linked to St Kilda at stages - given the presence of his father Stephen as list manager - but the Magpies seem a good fit according to SEN’s Kane Cornes.
Collingwood’s defence was put under pressure by Fremantle at the MCG on Sunday, with Patrick Voss kicking six goals in a dramatic one-point result the way of the Dockers.
“He’s a good fit for the Pies, absolutely,” Cornes said on SEN’s Fireball.
David King asked: “Would you choose St Kilda or Collingwood?”
Cornes replied: “Probably Collingwood.
“But I’m not sure what sort of fee is the difference between the two. The Saints are offering big bickies so it could be $500,000 more at St Kilda than it is at Collingwood.
“If Collingwood review their backs yesterday, they’d go, ‘Gee, we could have used a matchup for big ‘Vossy’ (Patrick Voss)’, who just destroyed them. So maybe they’ll up their price for our boy Jack.”
Silvagni has played 13 games for the Blues in 2025, primarily as a key defender alongside Jacob Weitering.
He was arguably in career-best form earlier in the campaign before breaking his hand and later sustaining a groin niggle which has sidelined him since Round 16.
The Pies have identified a need for more defensive cover and Silvagni has landed on their radar.
The report indicates that a potential Silvagni departure would land the Blues a second-round draft pick.
