2025 Mid-season review: Gold Coast Titans

At the halfway point of the 2025 season, the Gold Coast Titans find themselves in tied last with only three wins.
The return of skipper Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and arrival of Reagan Campbell-Gillard to an already strong forward pack was supposed to elevate the Titans to good things in 2025.
However, an interrupted start for their new spine of Keano Kini, AJ Brimson, and Jayden Campbell has limited any cohesion between the trio, with the team defensive struggles seeing them in last after Round 13.

Positive: Beau Fermor’s Origin debut
After rupturing his ACL in 2023, Beau Fermor has consistently been one of the Titans’ best players in 2025 and rightfully earned an Origin call-up on the back of his strong form. Fermor had been included in the Maroons’ extended squad back in 2022, so to see him work his way back into the side after injury setbacks is a shining light in an otherwise dark season for the Titans.
Negative: Defensive woes
The Titans currently average the most points conceded per game with 30, far above any other side. With talent all over the park, one of the best forward packs on paper, and a premiership-winning coach, Gold Coast fans would be rightfully mad to find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table despite having two byes already.
Best Player: Tino Fa’asuamaleaui
The return of the Titans’ skipper has been vital for the club. Fa'asuamaleaui has been a rock on the field, returning to his best form after his ACL injury last season. His form warranted Origin selection, along with fellow forwards Moeaki Fotuaika and Beau Fermor, and he’s yet to miss a game this season. Averaging 158 metres and 35 tackles per game, Tino has been crucial to any moments of success for the Titans.
Biggest Moment: David Fifita’s axing
The arrival of David Fifita and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui to the Titans in 2021 heralded what was supposed to be a new era on the Gold Coast. Then last season’s backflip was supposed to be another show of confidence in the direction of the Titans. But now Fifita hasn’t played first grade since Round 8 in a mix of form issues and injury problems. His axing from first grade signalled a major moment in the future of his tenure at the club.
