Following a busy trade period, the AFLW has officially welcomed in some fresh new faces and skills, ready to take the league by storm.
The 2025 AFLW Draft took place last night, with the best and brightest of 2025's development players fighting it out for top spot.
Richmond traded up for the first overall pick, while Gold Coast landed six of the top 15 players in this year's crop.
See every pick below!
ROUND ONE
Pick 1: Richmond select Olivia Wolmarans
The coveted Number 1 selection has this year been awarded to Subiaco’s Olivia Wolmarans, with Richmond crowning her as their club’s future hope.
The agile key forward played an integral role in the 2025 National Academy All-Australian Girl's team, honing in her skills in 11 appearances in Subiaco's WAFL Women’s squad in 2025.
With plenty of potential for her skill to skyrocket alongside the best of the best, Wolmarans will be a feisty addition to the Tigers line-up as they attempt to climb up the ladder in 2026.
Pick 2: GWS select Scarlett Johnson
Following closely behind No.1, GWS snapped up Northern Knights' Scarlett Johnson, who provided an incredible Vic Metro campaign in the AFLW National Development Championships at U18s level.
With versatility allowing her to take the field as a tall forward and a rotating half-back, Johnson’s athletic prowess was a no-brainer for the Giants, snapping her up at Pick number 2 to bolster their list with the one of the best of 2025 AFLW development crew.
Pick 3: GWS select Kiera Yerbury
Keen to build their team’s success after finishing in 17th position in the 2025 AFLW season, GWS made the most of their Pick 3, selecting North Shore Bomber’s Kiera Yerbury.
Hailing from the Swans Academy, Yerbury’s explosive speed and harsh impact will serve as an advantageous addition to the GWS list, with two Top 3 picks bolstering their pre-season preparation.
Pick 4: Gold Cost select Sunny Lappin
A huge night for Gold Coast, with six picks in the Draft’s Top 15, the Suns begun their bidding war at Pick 4, snatching Sunny Lappin from Adelaide’s original bid.
Lappin, taking Queensland Girl’s MVP after an outstanding 2025 campaign, including a QALFW premiership win and taking the Best on Ground medal while she was at it.
Unlucky to miss the 2024 Draft, the Suns Academy prospect put in the work to aligning with the Suns to take out a Top 5 Pick this year, following in the footsteps of her father, 251-gamer Matthew Lappin.
Pick 5: Adelaide select Chloe Bown
Just sneaking into the Top 5, the Oakleigh Charger’s midfield weapon Chloe Bown was selected by the Adelaide Crows.
A consistently high draft prospect, Bown averaged 27.5 disposals across her Vic Metro Best and Fairest campaign, earning her MVP and All-Australian honours as part of the U18 squad.
Taking out Coates Talent League Best and Fairest, Bown will be ready and raring to take to the field in the big leagues.
Pick 6: Sydney select Alex Neyland
Sydney snapped up their ultra-athletic academy player Alex Neyland, as the Coates Talent League and Allies Girl’s utility’s aggressive display of skill in her U18 season found her being comfortably selected in the Top 10.
Pick 7: Gold Coast select Ava Usher
Becoming the newest Sun of the night at Pick 7, Ava Usher was promoted into the AFLW list after well and truly proving herself as a fierce competitor in the Suns Acadmedy.
With strong comparisons to 2025 No.1 Pick Ash Centra and Rising Star Zippy Fish, the versatile weapon who dominates any field with defensive pressure and an impressive speed-endurance mix, Usher was a shoo-in for this year’s Draft.
Pick 8: Collingwood select Imogen Trengrove
Pick 8 went to Collingwood, selecting SA Girl’s and All-Australian Imogen Trengrove.
Despite injury ending her U18’s season after only three games, her athleticism and innate leadership as SA Girl’s captain saw her as an on and off the field standout, with her impact on the game earning her a Top 10 pick up.
Pick 9: Gold Coast select Georjia Davies
Signalling Gold Goast’s third top 10 selection, Sun’s Academy and Queensland Girl’s young-gun Georjia Davies was selected at Pick 9.
Georjia joins sisters Giselle, Fleur and Darcie in the AFLW, becoming the youngest member of the family to reach the big leagues.
Providing a dominating QAFLW performance in 2025 and endless versatility, Davies will be ready to join a fiery 2026 Suns list.
Pick 10: Essendon select Maggie Johnstone
Taking out Pick 10 in the 2025 AFLW Draft, Essendon selected Vic Country and Greater Western Victoria Rebels’ Maggie Johnstone.
