"Worst kept secret": Parker shocked by DCE's new gig

Details of Daly Cherry-Evans and his future in NRL have been reported and it’s left Corey Parker scratching his head about a missed opportunity for Manly.
According to Fairfax, the Sea Eagles veteran will play on for one more year in a Roosters jersey before taking on a coaching role with the club.
Speculation over the 36-year-old’s future has been relentless since he declared on live television in March that he would not be continuing his career at Brookvale.
His announcement was met with a stern denial by the club who dialled into a rival TV show to counter their stare’s claims.
It initiated one of the most bizarre "he said they said" moments of the season with little added to the saga but speculation and whispers.
Now Parker has questioned why Cherry-Evans would not have sought or been offered a similar deal with Manly.
“A reported one-year deal for DCE to play and then the remaining part of the deal will be for coaching which is interesting,” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast.
“He’s this Manly legend, wouldn’t you have thought his coaching expertise would be useful at Manly?
“It’s fascinating. It’s been the worst kept secret in the NRL that he’s going to the Tricolours, but round 21 are we? What are we waiting for?
“There’s hesitation going on. We’re in the quiet about what’s going on. No-one has spoken from DCE camp, no one has spoken from the Roosters.
“There has however been a turn in form, DCE has been very, very good.”
It’s been a rollercoaster season for Cherry-Evans.
His form imploded in the weeks which followed his bombshell announcement which only added to the rumour mill of who would want to sign him.
Things got worse last month when he was dumped as Maroons captain after the opening State of Origin clash.
After 26 games for Queensland, he did not feature for the remainder of the series which his state went on to win without him.
