Australian snowboarder Scotty James has the opportunity to ‘complete the set’ at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
The 31-year-old has won bronze (2018 PyeongChang) and silver (2022 Beijing) in his last two attempts in the Men’s Halfpipe, and now he heads to Milan as a real favourite again to win gold.
Having won four world championships and seven X-Games golds already, a gold medal would be just about the last thing to tick off for Australia’s most famous Winter Olympian.
While it’s the reality for James ahead of February’s games, he’s only focused on what he can control as he tries to produce his best on the biggest stage.
“It would complete the set, for sure. I mean, that's the reality,” James told SEN Mornings.
“But, I think this year, and what's probably been the most important narrative is that I always want to go into every event and do my best to win.
“I'll do that with all of my events in the lead-up to the Olympics and put my best foot forward.
“The sport can be tough some days, but I just have to focus on myself and what I'm doing.
“You can definitely get bogged down sometimes thinking about the end result.
“But I'm probably mature enough now to know that I've just got to focus on what can get the job done, and that's all I can control.
“We'll see how we go and give it a good old crack, as we would say in Australia, and hope for the best outcome.”
