Why Voss thinks McLennan's code switching claim is “absolute crap”
Former Rugby Australia chairman, Hamish McLennan, has revealed that he expects to see several NRL stars, including Nathan Cleary, explore a code switch.

However, *SEN's* Andrew Voss believes this is a complete lie.

McLennan was fired in November of 2023, but has recently resurfaced following the success of former NRL star Joseph Suaalii as a Wallabies player.

The return to the spotlight coincided with McLennan making claims that a third party earlier this year informed him that six NRL stars were interested in coming to rugby union.

*SEN1170 Breakfast* host Voss laughed at this claim, believing there is no way such players will make the change.

“Absolute rubbish, absolute crap,” Voss said.

Not only does Voss think these players are unlikely to code switch, but he sees no way that McLennan would have any insight.

“So if this third party has seriously got six people, the first person he rings is the bloke who was punted six months ago, why?,” he added.

McLennan claims the approach was genuine, however he never progressed to formal talks with NRL players given he no longer has any official ties to Rugby Australia.

Voss insists these claims are imaginary and remains confident that Cleary and others will remain with the NRL for the foreseeable future.
