Why Parker believes the Roosters are letting Terrell May go
As the 2024 offseason officially begins, the Sydney Roosters delivered a bombshell decision after it was announced the star forward Terrell May is free to leave the club immediately.

Many clubs targeted May heading into the November 1 free agency period, but the Tricolours took him off the market when he signed a two-year extension worth around $950k in total.

However, the Roosters are now happy for the Penrith junior to walk away from that deal seemingly in order to free up more cap space ahead of both 2025 and 2026.

The decision stunned many as May’s deal was viewed as one of the best for value contracts in the NRL and his impact off the bench is hard to replicate in today’s game.

May confirmed on his Instagram that the decision had nothing to do with anything off the field, leading many to speculate what the real reason for the decision is.

*SENQ’s* Corey Parker revealed he was hearing whispers of a reason for the departure during the midst of the 2024 season, which backs up May’s initial statement.

“Terrell May is an interesting one.. in the early parts (of 2024) he was spoken about as a bolter for Origin,” Parker said on *SENQ Breakfast*.

“Then I was hearing noise coming out of there that maybe his preparation side of things wasn’t up to standard.

“As it turns out they have let Terrell May know that he can look elsewhere.”

The Roosters have gone through plenty of roster changes in the last couple of months, with veterans Luke Keary, Jarryd Waerea-Hargraves, Sitili Toupounia and Joey Manu all departing the club for other opportunities.

“It’s interesting because they have lost a plethora of middle forwards and some edge forwards,” Parker added.

“It’ll be interesting to see what unfolds there.

“I’ve got no doubt Terrell May will get snapped up quickly, he’s a very mobile effective and big middle forward.”

Although no clubs have formally expressed interest in May he is expected to attract offers from the Dragons, Eels, Bulldogs and Panthers.
