Why Fraser-McGurk doesn’t plan on changing his game despite criticism
Australian young gun Jake Fraser-McGurk admits it’s pretty hard to avoid some of the criticism about his batting.

The 22-year-old was dismissed for 16 off 14 deliveries in the first ODI win against Pakistan at the MCG on Monday after spooning a Naseem Shah delivery to mid-wicket as he tried to send the ball airborne.

*SEN* host and former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian Healy took aim at Fraser-McGurk and his opening partner Matt Short for poor shot selection and trying to play like ‘schoolyard bullies’.

Another big cricket name who called out Fraser-McGurk’s method was veteran cricket writer Robert Craddock, who urged the young gun to find a second gear instead of attacking all the time.

Although those takes are hard to miss once they make headlines, Fraser-McGurk isn’t taking the opinions to heart as he tries to not read into their feedback too much.

“It's pretty hard to miss you know, I've got a phone,” Fraser-McGurk joked on *SEN WA Breakfast*.

“It is quite amazing. You know, probably those two guys were calling me to be in the World Cup squad after making my way around the IPL, so it's sort of a catch-22.

“But I think they're always going to have opinions, that’s their job and it's sort of my job to not really read into that too much as well.”

Even though the young opener sees where both Healy and Craddock are coming from, he says he won’t be changing how he approaches his game with Aussie captain Pat Cummins giving him a ‘license’ to play his own way.

“Yeah, I don’t see a point in changing,” Fraser-McGurk said.

“Honestly, if last game I hit 60 runs off 25 balls, then I don't think we're going to be having the same conversation.

“I can see their point of view, but I can also see where I'm coming from, which is the main thing.”

The young star will hope to find some form when Australia face Pakistan in the second of three ODIs at the Adelaide Oval on Friday with play to commence at 2:30pm AEDT.
