NZ Warriors chief executive Cameron George has made it clear where the club wants to play if it earns the right to host an NRL final.
With the Warriors sitting atop the ladder, questions have been raised over whether a potential final in Auckland could be moved to Eden Park.
George told Sport Nation that the club had not heard from the NRL and believes Go Media Stadium should remain the Warriors’ home for finals football.
“I truly believe that we've earned the right to play our footy games here at Go Media Stadium,” George said.
For George, the issue is about more than capacity or convenience. He says the ground holds years of memories for the club and its supporters.
“This place means so much to our footy club and our fans that have been coming here for many, many years through wet days, cold days, cold nights, wet nights, big losses, big thrashings and good wins, tight wins, all the emotional rollercoaster that this game has given us here at Go Media.”

George also believes the Warriors’ members and players deserve to experience a potential home final at their usual venue.
“My answer in short is no,” he said when asked if the club would consider moving to Eden Park.
“It means something to us here and that's our preferred location.”
George also touched on the challenge posed by the PNG Chiefs, saying the financial appeal of playing in Papua New Guinea could be significant for players.
“The added bonus of the full amount of your salary is significant in anyone's terms,” he said.
With a potential 20th NRL team also in the wider conversation, George stressed the need for greater investment in New Zealand’s grassroots and pathways systems.
“We need the grassroots and the pathways to be equal to the states of Australia and it's going to take a long time to get there,” he said.
“We've got to start that and invest in that from now.”
