Warren Huntly passes away, aged 63
Long-time RSN presenter Warren Huntly has sadly passed away, aged 63.
Huntly unfortunately lost his battle with cancer which sparked an outpouring of support from the Noonan brothers and longtime friend Andrew Bensley.
β€œHe had a really difficult battle with cancer over the last six to 12 months,” Trav Noonan said.
β€œHe’s a true fighter and one of the best blokes you’ll ever meet in the racing game.
β€œWe pay our condolences to his wife Leeanne and daughter Nicole and all his friends.
β€œIt’s a really difficult morning for many.”
Bensley also paid an emotional tribute to his good friend.
β€œIt’s an extremely sad morning,” Bensley agreed.
β€œUp until Friday Warren was talking to be people.
β€œA couple of us saw him last Sunday and he was sitting at home watching the races and talking footy.
β€œIt has been a battle for Warren over the last two and a half years, but he’s dealt with it.
β€œThe one thing that Warren has been is a lover of racing, a lover of doing form.
β€œHe’s been on the station for 20 years, doing what he loved doing and that’s doing the form and passing on his opinions to the family of listeners through RSN.
β€œWe all hoped personally that Warren would return to health and come back on air and do what he loved doing.
β€œI spoke to Leeanne briefly. She just wanted to thank everyone that knew what Warren was dealing with and ringing up and saying hello.
β€œIt’s an extremely sad morning.
β€œOur thoughts are with him. We are going to have a glass of red wine today because that’s what Warren loved doing on a Sunday.
β€œHe’s in a much more comfortable position now.”
Bensley also revealed that the news of the funeral will be released tomorrow.
Vale, Warren.
