It's Oaks Day and Cam Luke, David Taggart, Campbell Brown & Miles Pfitzner have your Thursday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Flemington & Gosford in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
FLEMINGTON
Race 1 | 8. I Only Wish (each-way)
Up in distance works and she does run well third up! Worked home decent at Pakenham last start. She enjoys Good track and her form last start is good enough for this! She will be back a little so a little speed would be good! Empire of Pain will supply it! Is a great each way play at $10.
Race 2 | 6. Le Zebra (each-way)
Is better second up than first and had zero luck at Caulfield. That race also stands with Ndola being ok Tuesday and Keep Your Cool in the market in R3. Good track specialist and stays at the 1400m. Lane will have a nice run in race from that gate and with even luck this time will be in the finish. Is over the odds at $9.50.
Race 3 | 2. Verona Rose
I’m a little wary as she is better with toe in the ground but isn’t putrid on good tracks! I’m hoping she isn’t as far back as last start as barrier was wide. She wan well in the Epsom which is WAY stronger than this and last start behind Idle Flyer and Perfurmist was a strong race! Expect her to run really well!
Race 4 | 11. Shockletz
Backed her all winter for great reward and she was brilliant first up! She loves Flemington and the 1800m is more in her distance wheelhouse! I would like Al Duca to get some company up front to ensure some speed. In saying that Good track is perfect and even though I don’t want her shorter than $3 she will be mighty hard to beat!
Race 5 | 10. Enxuto
ZERO luck on Saturday so backs up here up to the 1600m of which both work!! Drawn the same gate so luck is needed again. Good track is sweet for him as is Flemington. Last years Quinella headed towards the Cox Plate after both winning G1’s so it’s a race that holds some form. I doubt this bloke gets to that level but I do expect him to win today.
Race 7 | 1. Inkaruna
Has been down the straight both times this prep and both races have held up well form wise. Her only third up run was two behind Tempted and that’s great for this! She is a good track horse and this is easier than what she faced last prep in Sydney. She is drawn in the best part of the track and will come steaming home with Point Barrow!
VRC OAKS
3. Spicy Lu & 7. Strictly Business (each way)The fave (Getta Good Feeling) is going to be mighty hard to beat but she is way too short! No speed in any lead up races and again none on Saturday. She is the class horse in the race and is in my quaddie but I’m playing around her!
Spicy Lu was great controlling the race at Caulfield and expect her to go forward again. She should enjoy Flem even more. Only been here once and was stuck three wide no cover. She is a lover of the firm deck and 2500m feels like she will enjoy!
Strictly Business was flying home Saturday 1400m up to 2000m so she has the most improvement in her! She did have a nice run on the rails but the wide gate isn’t an issue as she will go back! The issue is if they go slow like Saturday it will be mighty hard to run over them but if they get speed this girl will be rattling home and be the upset!
I’ve backed them both each way and will have them in more places bets and Multi’s as well!
Race 9 | 5. Coleman & 8. Major Share (both each-way)
Coleman has trialled up well for new trainer with a host of gear changes! Is drawn in right part of the track and he can be temperamental but runs well on good tracks and little each way play as he has some class!!
Major Share was ok at MV and flies second up and good track specialist! Enjoys the straight and Loves the 1000m. I think both of these horses run really well and challenge the fave Rey Magnerio.
David Taggart
FLEMINGTON
Race 2 | 10. Chakado (value)
Resumes and that’s where he does his best work winning 2/3 first up. Is ready to go off his trials and he will be put into the race early from a good gate. Worth an each-way play.
Race 5 | 6. Oh Too Good
Loves racing here and she will get every chance from a good draw. Will sit just off the speed of Major Beel and I’m not sure why she has drifted.
Race 9 | 1. Rey Magnerio
Hits this second up after his slashing win first up where he only got out late and savaged the line, should have won by an extra three lengths. His second up form isn’t as good as his fresh form but it looks like he’s comeback better than ever and he loves the straight.
Campbell Brown
FLEMINGTON
Race 4 | 11. Shockletz
This horse rarely runs a bad race and returned in good fashion at Sandown winning comfortably. Steps Up in trip, loves Flemington should again go close. $3.20.
GOSFORD
Race 4 | 2. Oakfield Saturn
Hasn't missed a placing in five career starts. Beaten as short priced favorite first up. Will atone today. One for your multis as again is very short $1.70.
Miles Pfitzner
FLEMINGTON
Race 2 | 3. MakdaneRace 3 | 9. Arabian PrinceRace 5 | 3. Don Diego De Vega
