Thursday best bets from Luke & Gannon (30/10)
Cam Luke & Mick Gannon have your Thursday sorted on Trackside as we go again on Geelong Cup day!
The lads have taken a look at Warrnambool, Wyong & Sapphire Coast to bring the Track family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
WARRNAMBOOL
Race 4 | 3. Prince Iadora
Comes out of a really strong maiden at Ballarat when the winner has gone into town and been good! Second started real short and got beat Monday. He ran realty well through the line making me think the 1400m will suit. He is drawn much better today so probably won’t be spat out the back. Will be better for the experience and distance rise!
Race 6 | 5. Foragoodcause
Fairly short ($2.40) but will be mighty hard to beat! Back to 1200m and you can ignore last crack at it was was end of prep and this is way easier than that! Might be a little closer than when at Bendigo due to better gate. His best is on tip of the ground and he has panels of class here! If he doesn’t get 1200m, we will know today but in this class I ain’t worried about that. Take the shorts or go 1 out in the quaddie. I’ve done both.
WYONG
Race 2 | 4. Sir Loyne
Comes out of a really good maiden and stays at the 1600m which is a plus. Debut race was stacked! This race is easier and can stalk the leader (Avenue Montaigne) who will need it slow to run a strong 1600m but is the danger. In saying that $2.40 is short enough but is a justifiable price for a horse that should be too good here!
Race 6 | 5. Stratafy
Can again be closer to speed form that gate after settling closer in the win two back! There is a fair bit of speed expected and Adkins can take his time. Good track is a big plus and going to be very hard to beat!! Formal the class horse but I think his absolute best is with a toe in the ground, so I’m with Stratafy.
Race 7 | 6. Kissavos
Hadn’t done much but blinkers went on for a trial and went well! Expect him to bounce out of that gate and either lead but most probably sit OSL Dear My Friend. The numbers don’t read well but to be fair probably deserves a smidge more credit being not far off them so far and I think in this race which lacks a little bit of class, I think he’ll get it done!
SAPPHIRE COAST
Race 4 | 4. Sweet Treats
No major spoils here but this was was decent last start in a tougher race and the winner has since won in town!! This is much easier, blinkers go on which will help and the 1600m is a winning distance for her! Her previous two starts at this level either was a win or beaten by a nostril so expect her to be mighty hard to beat!
Race 5 | 3. Tommy Flyer
Again short ($2.60) but was great winning 1st up and expect him to get away with a soft lead again today. Doesn’t have to work too hard and the 1400m is no dramas. Good track works and think he’ll be too good! I have doubled them up at $6.

Mick Gannon
WYONG
Race 2 | 7. Avenue Montaigne
Leads and has best figures for this. Tricky enough start point, if she crosses to lead easily enough, she probably wins with a repat of her two career starts. Looking for a Tim Clark special.
Race 4 | 2. Sociable
Brings consistent figures and finds very winnable race, has a career peak that wins easy hard to run down. Likely to lead with Hippo on and should be beating these.
Race 7 | 5. Empress Irene
Winnable race against a very average bunch. She trialled very well in amongst runners and strong late. Needs a good steer from the wide draw but looks to have enough ability to win this race. $9 is the right price to find out.
