Theirs to lose: Liverpool 11 points clear after beating Man City
The 2024/25 Premier League title is Liverpool’s to lose after they went 11 points clear at the summit.
Arne Slot’s Reds defeated Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium through first-half goals from Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai.
The result allowed Liverpool to move to 64 points and well clear of Arsenal who were beaten by West Ham United on Saturday.
The Merseyside club have 11 matches to play and only need to avoid a disaster to claim their second Premier League title (and 20th in the English top flight).
In the other Sunday fixture, Newcastle United came from a goal down to beat Nottingham Forest 4-3 at St James’ Park.
The win saw Newcastle slide up to fifth while Forest remained third.
