Blake Johnston
TANNHAUSER (Rosehill R8 #15) broke 33-seconds for his last 600m when closing first-up over 1300m in the Theo Marks Stakes, he was in limited room there as well. Has had a short break since and is better suited here over 1500m with a tick-over trial in between runs.
MURAMASA (Caulfield R8 #10) had been competitive in some strong races before failing to get the green light from the vets prior to the Melbourne Cup. He chased home Onesmoothoperator and his stablemate Interpretation at Geelong which is good form for this. He might be a dry tracker so wary of the predicted rainfall, but he could represent some value.
LADY LAGUNA (Ascot R8 #15) was building something prior to an excuse run last start down the straight six at Flemington. Prior to that she was good behind Bella Nipotina and subsequent G1 winner Sunshine In Paris. Draws perfectly and gets McDonald in the saddle, plenty to like.
ZARASTRO (Doomben R8 #3) had one of the standout summer carnivals 12 months ago and looks ready to fire first-up in the George Moore. Tony Gollan has won the past three editions, and this bloke can give him a fourth consecutive, with an all-the-way victory. Ange Jones has won four times aboard Zarastro, and although he's drawn wide, he can bowl along, cross them and be off and gone.
