The top 5 performances of the WA racing season

Form analyst Peter Anthonisz has given his top five performances this season in Western Australia.
These are the best five runs from WA-trained gallopers from a data perspective.
Anthonisz went through each of the runs on SENTrack’s Best From The West show, thanks to Racing WA.
5 - WESTERN EMPIRE (Gold Rush)
“Slightly below what we’ve seen from this horse in the past, but I still thought overall coming off the fast tempo set up front, we saw the best of Western Empire there with a perfect steer from Billy Egan.”
4 - HEMLOCK STONE & DIAMOND SCENE (Perth Cup)
“Hemlock Stone was completely suited the way the race unfolded… I thought the performance of Diamond Scene trying to hold off Hemlock Stone in the final stages of that race, Diamond Scene was clearly the best horse. He just basically hit the front at the wrong time.
“They’re both horses where if they found their way over east, you wouldn’t discount them based on that performance.”
3 - SENTIMENTAL HERO (AJ Scahill Cup)
“I thought Sentimental Hero’s run there in the AJ Scahill Cup over 2100m was the first time we saw that horse up in distance… he was setting a very quick tempo in front; he really just smashed the clock. I’m looking forward to seeing what that horse can do.”
2 - ROPE THEM IN (Colonel Reeves)
“A really progressive horse that seemed to go to another level once they stuck the blinkers on. I think the key to unlocking this horse is finding a fast tempo, the blinkers obviously made a big difference and even the run in the Winterbottom Stakes had plenty of merit. I think he’s an absolute live hope going into the Winterbottom later this year.”
1 - ADMIRATION EXPRESS (Northerly Stakes, 2nd)
“A 100-1 shot but the way she was able to take that early tempo and just explode off it with an excuse getting bumped wider on the corner, I couldn’t believe how well she went in that race. Another horse that just seems to be getting better with age, she’s only a five-year-old mare.
“Could we see another performance like that going to this year’s Northerly or even the Railway Stakes? I thought that was a super performance. I know she didn’t win, but on the pure numbers you have to respect what she was able to do.”
