The in-form filly with a Blue Diamond profile who is at massive odds for the Caulfield feature

Form analyst Peter Anthonisz believes The Playwright profiles nicely for the Blue Diamond Stakes.
The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained filly won the Group 3 Widden Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill on Saturday.
With that win in mind and the fact the two-year-old loves to lead, Anthonisz can see her running very well against the Victorian juveniles in the Caulfield feature over 1200m on February 22 provided the stable heads that way.
“I thought the winner overall profiled really well for the Blue Diamond,” Anthonisz said on SENTrack’s Giddy Up when assessing the Widden.
“The Playwright has now produced two runs - one back in November and the one on Saturday - and both of those figures would go particularly well compared with any of the Victorian horses.
“In fact it’s clear of anything we’ve seen in Victoria (this season) so far.
“With Gai Waterhouse it will be a horse that will be on speed and that’s half the battle.
“Get the tempo right and that very well might be a horse that’s difficult to run down at Caulfield.”
Giddy Up host Gareth Hall suggested there could be a chance that The Playwright ends up in the $2 million Blue Diamond just like stablemate Lady Of Camelot did last year.
That galloper won the 2024 Widden, then ran second in the Blue Diamond before winning the 2024 Golden Slipper.
“Adrian Bott definitely hasn’t ruled that out because they did have success with a similar horse like Lady Of Camelot,” said Hall.
“She went to the Blue Diamond and then went onto win the Golden Slipper.”
Anthonisz added: “That looks like the setup that I’m looking at.
“You go back to the Magic Millions race on the Gold Coast when she ran fourth at a $13 SP (starting price).
“It’s a good little setup. The horse has been up for a while, that’s the only query.”
The Playwright, who has two wins from four career starts, is currently priced at $34 with Sportsbet for the Blue Diamond later this month.
The daughter of Written By was ridden by Regan Bayliss to claim the weekend’s Widden when leading all the way before holding off Godolphin’s Tempted and Chris Waller’s Snitzel Miss.
