The best of Ciaron Maher’s chances this weekend

Ciaron Maher Racing has a number of good winning hopes across the weekend’s racing.
The focus is on the Caulfield Heath meeting at Saturday with there also being a meeting at the same venue on Thursday.
Assistant trainer Jack Turnbull believes consistent mare Igotcha is a great winning chance at nice each-way odds in Race 4, while also expecting Race 9 favourite Warnie to run well.
“At Caulfield it would have to be Igotcha,” Turnbull said on SENTrack’s Giddy Up when asked what the stable’s best at Saturday’s Melbourne metro meeting was.
“She’s been consistent in her grade but last start was by far her best run (when second to Oh Too Good at Cranbourne).
“Warnie is obviously the one in terms of the market, but I think Igotcha can get the win at a bit of value.”
Igotcha, to be ridden by John Allen, is currently priced at $9.50 by Sportsbet for the fourth event whereas Warnie, for Saffie Osborne, is the $2.20 favourite later in the day.
Turnbull also gave a solid push for Yes Lulu who could head to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas if she runs well in Race 6 - the Magic Millions Vic 3&4YO Classic.
“If she were to perform well we would look at taking her up north to the Gold Coast were there his a race for her,” he added.
“She would have to run well to get past Grahame Begg’s filly (Miraval Rose), but they’re all their to be beaten. We do think she has quality so hopefully she takes that step.”
Yes Lulu, for Declan Bates, is a $9.50 chance in her race on Saturday.
The stable will then have Gringotts and New Energy run in the $2 million Ingham at Randwick in Sydney.
“A really good opportunity, New Energy gets in pretty well at the weights (56.5kg),” Turnbull added.
“It’s a $2 million handicap and he’s obviously come into form and in those high-pressure races he tends to run his best.
“Gringotts is in the form of his life. He’s been pretty well weighted with 60.5kg. There’s not a lot of speed, he goes forward so that should suit given the race shape.
“You would hope, given the recent form he’s in, he can collect his.”
Gringotts, with Tommy Berry in the saddle, is the $3.90 favourite for The Ingham while New Energy is at $16.
The Thursday Caulfield meeting is also littered with Maher runners with the best chance coming in Race 2.
“We believe Berezka, she would be our best today,” Turnbull continued.
“She’s a full sister to Nadal. She’s first-up and ran well in her first racing campaign.
“She did a few things wrong, but I think today from a low draw, if she steps away and gets in a nice spot she should be too good.”
Berezka is the current $1.85 favourite in the second event at Caulfield on Thursday at 4pm AEDT.
