When it comes to the heights of rugby league, few Kiwis have soared like Tawera Nikau.
The forward was a menace on grounds from Castleford to Cronulla, eventually helping to lead the Melbourne Storm to their maiden NRL Premiership in just their second year of existence.
In an extended interview with Sport Nation's Millsy & Guy, the kid from Huntly reflected on his rugby league llfe, rising from humble beginnings with the Otara Scorpions to a career as one of New Zealand's best to lace them up.
Now 58 years old, Nikau discusses the impact of the personal tragedy which turned his life upside down and how his beloved sport lifted him back out of the doldrums.
