Devils VFLW plans unveiled as SEN strengthens partnership
Sports Entertainment Group (SEG) is pleased to confirm expanded broadcast coverage of the Tasmania Devils VFLW program, with six matches to be broadcast during the 2026 VFLW season as part of a growing partnership with the Devils.
Working closely with the Tasmania Devils, SEN will deliver coverage that supports the continued growth of women’s football in the state, providing greater visibility for players, clubs and fans across Tasmania and beyond.
Again partnering with the Seven Network, SEG’s TV arm, Rainmaker, will produce and provide six home matches for the Devils onto Seven Tasmania and 7plus Sport nationally, allowing all Australians the chance to watch and follow the journey of the Devils’ first women’s team.
The initiative builds on SEN’s broader commitment to Tasmanian football and follows the recently announced historic VFL broadcast partnership for the Devils’ men’s program, further strengthening coverage of the club ahead of its AFL and AFLW futures.
SEG Chief Executive, Craig Hutchison, said the expansion of VFLW coverage was an important step for the game in Tasmania.
“The Tassie Devils have captured the hearts and imagination of all Tasmanian football fans, and the VFLW team promises to do exactly the same through its exciting inaugural year.
“We are thrilled to team up with the Devils and showcase VFLW football across Tasmania and nationally via 7plus Sport, meaning the state’s women and men have the best and most dedicated coverage in Australia.”
Brendon Gale, Chief Executive of the Devils, echoed Hutchison’s enthusiasm.
"This is more than just a broadcast partnership; it is about laying the right foundations. When we talk about building Tasmania's football club, we mean for everyone. These young women deserve to be seen, and every Tasmanian deserves the chance to watch them play".
Seven Network Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, said;
“Following the recent ratings success of the men’s Tasmania Devils VFL matches on Seven in Tasmania and 7plus Sport nationally, we are ecstatic to add the Club’s VFLW matches to Seven’s football offering.
“Passionate Devils fans in Tasmania won’t be the only ones to watch their women’s side’s home matches, with the six games also broadcast live and free nation-wide on 7plus Sport. We cannot wait to see this team make history.”
AFL Executive General Manager of Finance, Broadcast and Infrastructure, Matthew Chun, added;
"The AFL is delighted to partner with the Seven Network and SEN to showcase the VFLW to a broader audience in 2026.
"We've been thrilled with the increased coverage of the Smithy's VFL this year under our expanded broadcast offering.
"We're delighted to extend this to the VFLW for the upcoming season as part of commitment to providing football fans with high-quality and accessible coverage."
