Supercars chief to vacate role in off-grid shake-up

Supercars chief executive Shane Howard will leave his role as part of the racing category's ongoing off-grid overhaul.
Howard will transition into a newly created role as director of motorsport as part of a new organisational structure announced on Tuesday.
His move comes after former chief operating officer Tim Watsford left his post in February to join NRL club St George Illawarra as their boss.
The two new directors were also welcomed to the Supercars board, operated by consortium Racing Australia Consolidated Enterprises (RACE), in January.
Howard, appointed as chief executive in 2022, will remain in his role until the appointment of his successor.
The move by the board aims to continue the growth of the sport domestically and overseas.

"I believe now is the right time to transition into a role that allows me to concentrate on the sporting and technical side of the business, which has always been a great passion of mine," Howard said in a statement.
"I'm extremely proud of what we've accomplished in recent years and remain deeply committed to the future of Supercars."
Having dedicated 20 years to the racing category, Howard was appointed to the top job after a long stint as chief operating officer.
He oversaw the revival of the Adelaide 500, the transition to the Gen3 cars and the introduction of this season's new finals format.
RACE chairman Barclay Nettlefold thanked Howard for his contributions.
"Shane's contribution to Supercars as CEO has been outstanding, and his expertise will remain invaluable as we continue to grow the sport," Nettlefold said in a statement.
"We thank him for his leadership as CEO and look forward to his continued impact in this new capacity."
Supercars action heads to New Zealand on April 11-13 for round three of the championship.
Reigning champion Will Brown leads the series, followed by Tickford rival Cam Waters and Triple Eight teammate Broc Feeney.
