Kiwi NBA veteran Steven Adams could be headed for an extended absence after going down with a leg injury.
During the fourth quarter of the Houston Rockets' clash with the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday (NZ time), Adams rose to contest a Zion Williamson layup and came down awkwardly on his left leg.
The 32-year-old lay prone on the court clearly in considerable pain.
He tried to walk off on his own accord but eventually succumbed and was carried to the lock room by two support staff, unable to put any weight on his injured limb.
After the game, Rockets coach Ime Udoka provided a brief update, stating there's "Nothing broken. Not a high ankle sprain".
Adams has been a crucial piece of the Western Conference second-placed Rockets' success through the 2025-26 season to date, anchoring one the league's premier rebounding teams.
The Wellingtonian leads the NBA in offensive rebounding, with a per game average of 4.5 per game.
