Bulldogs CEO reveals plan to move 2026 Dragons clash to neutral venue
Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton has revealed the Bulldogs and Dragons are looking at hosting their 2026 match at a neutral venue in a new strategic relationship between the two clubs.
The Bulldogs and Dragons are slated to play each other in the Las Vegas season opener, bringing a new chapter to the two club’s historic rivalry.
One of the biggest games of the year for both clubs, the clubs are splitting the profits of their Las Vegas contest and translating it to a split neutral game to ensure both teams get an even share of the prize.
The Bulldogs have had a relationship like this with the Rabbitohs for the past decade, dividing their games at Accor Stadium, providing both teams with a reason to promote their clashes.
Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton opened up about the new strategic relationship between the two clubs.
“When you don't share a venue, it is difficult because you can't open the books up and look at everything like for like,” Warburton told SEN 1170 Afternoons.
“We thought with the Dragons, Vegas was an easy one because our pitch, when we actually submitted our application, was a joint application, word for word.
“So, we’re splitting the whole revenue model there down the line.”
After the success of the Bulldogs clash with the Sea Eagles at Allianz Stadium in Round 21, with 25,801 fans in attendance, Warburton revealed a return to the ground was an option for the clash.
“We haven't nailed the venue yet, but it could be an Allianz stadium, somewhat neutral between both teams, and we, from the 50m line, literally split the venue.
“Bulldogs members on one side, Dragons on the other and if there's any tickets available, we'll put them up for sale, and the bottom line, the, the profit at the end of it, we split.
“At the back end of it, we reflect on how we can do better, and it could roll on for another decade plus like it has with the Rabbitohs.”
The Bulldogs next play the Wests Tigers at CommBank Stadium as they continue on their pursuit for a top two finish.
