When Angus Crichton was seven there was a sign on his bedroom wall with a Wallabies goal and a Sydney Roosters teddy bear on the bed that told his mum Pip everything about her son's most recent past and the future that awaits.
When the 30-year-old second-rower lifted the NRL premiership trophy with his Roosters teammates on Sunday night it was one chapter closing and another one beginning.
The now two-time title winner played rugby union with The Scots College as a youth and represented Australian Schoolboys.
Crichton, who won the 2022 World Cup with the Kangaroos in rugby league, will link with the NSW Waratahs in 2027 with the aim of playing for Australia at the home Rugby World Cup next year.

Pip Crichton, while celebrating with her son in the Roosters sheds, had full faith he will achieve his next goal.
"When he was seven he had a sign in his bedroom that said, 'I want to be a Wallaby'. He crossed it out and then wrote 'I am going to be a Wallaby'," Pip told AAP.
"He always had that drive and that fire.
"I think it is exciting for him to be a dual-international. He's had a lovely time at the Roosters and it has been a great ride for us but one door shuts and another door opens.
"I know Angus so well and he sets his mind to something he goes after it hard and he really gives it everything he has got. He never leaves anything in the tank."

Crichton grew up in the rural NSW town of Young as a Roosters fan and his mum said it was fitting he had won two titles with the club.
"We used to chase Brad Fittler around Canberra stadium trying to get his signature when (Angus) was a little boy," Pip grinned.
"He was a a Roosters fan. He had a Roosters flag, a Roosters teddy on the bed and Roosters cards.
"It is such a lovely story. We won the premiership in 2019 here and now we are finishing on another high. It is such a fairytale ending for Angus to win with the boys again.
"The Roosters have been incredible for him. What an extraordinary career he has had here. The friendships and the coaching made him the man he is and he would say that."

When told what his mum had said, Crichton was quick to agree.
"I've grown up in this organisation and they have been totally devoted to me. I am so grateful," he told AAP.
"I've loved my time here at the Roosters, a special time in my life and I will have these memories forever.
"I can't wait for the next chapter but right now I am looking forward to the next week and celebrating with these boys and enjoying the moment."
Mum and son agree that a return to Accor Stadium for the Rugby World Cup final on November 13 next year would be a nice full circle moment.
"That's the plan," Angus grinned.
Mum has it in her diary.
"Next year… yes it's back for the World Cup final," Pip said.
"That would be good, wouldn't it?"
