William Kennedy has inked a one-year extension at the Cronulla Sharks, keeping him at the club in 2026.
Kennedy has been off-contract all season, and while the Sharks were hoping to keep their fullback, were unable to offer him a deal due to salary cap pressures.
Per David Riccio, the club has offered Kennedy a cut-price deal at $350,000 for 2026, less than what he’s currently on despite a career-best season.
The fullback was leading the Dally M for the first quarter of the season and finished in the top 10 as he helped the Sharks to a preliminary final finish.
Kennedy played in all of Cronulla’s 27 appearances this season, recording eight tries and 13 try assists.
The one-year deal means Kennedy will be able to negotiate with rival clubs come November 1, and could shape as an option for the Perth Bears with most other clubs having a fullback locked down long-term.
Kennedy turned away interest from Super League clubs and will battle with promising youngster Liam Ison for the fullback jersey after Kade Dykes departed the club for the Bulldogs.
