Thoroughbred racing is in Hobart on Sunday for a deep nine-race card.
The rail moves to +11m after being at +9m for the program a fortnight ago, and there is rain forecast for Sunday, which may impact the track rating.
The first of the day is set for 11:20.

Race 6 – 1. Alpine Thunder
I’ve narrowed the first leg of the quaddie down to Alpine Thunder and Miss Keeds, and I think the former can turn the tables from their recent meeting. Alpine Thunder was first-up there, doing a power of work behind the flying Etosha, who would eventually weaken badly in the run home. Alpine Thunder gave a strong kick there, but also tired late to finish out of the placings, with Miss Keeds running second to Furneaux. Alpine Thunder meets Miss Keeds 1.5kg better here, and the added race fitness will take him a long way.

Race 5 – 1. Skin in the Game
Skin in the Game atoned for an unlucky debut effort with a dominant victory at his second start. Those two runs were much different, settling well back when he first faced the starter, and landing outside the leader last time. That versatility is a valuable trait, particularly given he’s drawn awkwardly again in barrier 10. He was dominant last time, and I think he can make it two wins in succession.

Race 3 – 12. South Georgia
Given she started $71 when finishing 12th at her only career start, I’m anticipating that South Georgia will be an each-way price here. Her one start was back in January, settling well off the pace in a race where the winner won by a space. She’s been given time to mature, and I thought she’s done more than enough in two recent trials to suggest significant improvement is possible. She’s drawn well with a senior riding going on, and it’s an open race that could easily throw up a value result.
