Was Alex Honnold's Taipei 101 climb the most heart-stopping event in history?

American free climber Alex Honnold pulled off one of the most outrageous feats in human history, scaling Taiwan’s Taipei 101 building without any form of aid in just 91 minutes.
And according to Dwayne Russell, the event was one of the most heart-in-mouth sporting challenges ever witnessed.
The 508-metre climb was streamed through Netflix on Sunday – with a significant playback delay – as Honnold ascended the tower without a harness, ropes or any protective equipment.
Completing the challenge in one hour and 31 minutes, Honnold proceeded to stand atop the skyscraper, waving to onlookers despite the breezy conditions.
“I want to talk about Alex Honnold. Did you see the superstar free climber climb without ropes, without a harness, without a safety net – climb Taipei 101 on the weekend?” Dwayne told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“It was delayed a little because of the conditions – it is the single most heart-in-mouth sporting event I’ve ever seen!
“It was broadcast on an eight second delay just in case... it was a heart-stopper from the time he stepped onto the building.
“They were talking about, during the climb, it doesn’t matter when he falls, if it’s 100 metres or 1000 metres, it’s the same – you are going to die either way.
“There is a point he gets to in the climb where it is just so dangerous, and then he got to the top - there is a ball on top of Taipei 101, and he scaled the ball and stood on top of the ball, not just for a few seconds and waved to the crowd, he stood there and took selfies in the breeze, blowing him around! It was freakish!
“It is sport, you’ve got to call it a sport, even though he is not competing against anyone else – he is competing against himself and the elements.
“It is the most amazing thing I did see on the weekend.”
