Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (18/04)
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Mornington & Randwick in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
MORNINGTON
Race 4 | 5. Naifah
Always runs well first up and the recent jump out suggests the same this prep. Drawn lovely to land on speed and stalk the pace setters (Arlington Row, Befuddle, Shystar among others) the Pozman claim is a smart use. Firm track works for her and has been in better races (with no luck) last prep. Will be very hard to beat.
Race 7 | 3. Satirically
Going to have to do what he did last start when rolling forward from a wide gate but Mornington mile start will allow him to do that, so I think he will be able to. Speed isn't prevalent on paper so I think it’s doable to control it fairly comfortably. He was so strong through the line so there looks to be improvement. His win was really impressive and he belted them and I doubt this race has a massive amount of depth in it! Good track is a win and I expect him to be very hard to catch!
RANDWICK
Race 3 | 16. Scintilla
We haven't seen her for over a year but last time we did she was really good. Has trialled up a bunch so no stress about fitness. She is drawn to stalk the speed and sit 1-1 or three pairs back. Signor and Stay Focused two of a few who could ensure speed. She has got into this race with no weight and if she can sniff her from her last prep, she will win this!
Race 5 | 1. Matias
His run last start suggests he is getting back to that QLD form and third up he is ready to peak third up. I cant really see a huge amount of speed here so expect NR to be proactive from a nice gate. Has won third up before and every indication that he will love the 2000m. The Carbine Club is the race of which the market suggests the form stands up here and between him and Olympian I think Matias has more improvement and the class here! I think he uses this to propel towards the QLD Derby.
Race 6 | 4. She's A Dealer
Was a huge win last start in a G1 in NZ where she worked from gate 18 to sit three wide no cover and win and was strong through the line. This is tougher and she has a horrible gate again but she is clearly looking for 2000m now. Dry track no concern for this girl and probably heads towards a QLD race where she was pretty good last year in the Oaks. She has been here before so that’s a little plus and if she has any luck she will be deep in the finish.
Race 7 | 2. Fireball
He was really good in the Sires from a bad gate and never really settled being pushed wide when almost on heels. He hit the line really well which makes me think the 1600m will suit even though there is a little question. Drawn perfectly to stalk the speed. Hopefully track stays good as I think that's another win for him. Fave is going to have a nice speed map as well but this bloke was really good last start and even in the GS and expect him to run a huge race!
Race 9 | 14. Beiwacht
I love Nash Rawiller going on and I love the speed map even more! No real challenger to compete with him for the lead, and from a good gate back to 1400m (1500m too far when going too fast last start) he will cruise in a groove in front. Good track a big tick as well. This prep (Flem Straight he hates / beaten only just by best sprint in Oz / too far last start) When he gets the perfect set up, man is a tough to beat and off a nice trial he gets that today.

David Taggart
MORNINGTON
Race 2 | 13. Street Artist (BEST)
Resumes and is ready to go off his trials. Smashed them here last prep to win his maiden and he was brave at the end of his prep when running second to group winner Pallaton. Jump lead and win.
Race 4 | 3. Naifah
Resumes and she contested much better races last prep and was competitive. Trials have been good leading into this and has a handy enough fresh record. Draws soft and gets a huge claim, has to go close.
Race 5 | 4. A Diva
Bumped into one better than her last start and she was brave in defeat. Will find this easier and she will control the race and is the one they have to beat.
Race 6 | 3. Wonder Boy
Was beaten by Captain Furai last start in Sydney and he goes around fav in the last up there. Beat home some handy types in that race and he should have these covered on his home track which he races in for the first time.
RANDWICK
Race 5 | 3. Eureka Rebel (VALUE)
Surprised many last start running second at any old odds to the handy Storm Leopard. He gets another chance again in what looks a bit easier and will be saved for one run late. Is at odds again and looks a nice each-way play, stable is flying.
