Rabbitohs star arrested for domestic violence offences
South Sydney Rabbitohs’ winger Tyrone Munro has been arrested on multiple alleged domestic violence charges from an incident in April.
NSW police confirmed in a statement Munro was arrested on Tuesday after a woman made a report on Monday about an alleged assault near Homebush earlier in the year.
“Following inquiries, a 20-year-old man was arrested yesterday and taken to Auburn Police Station where he has now been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic), common assault (domestic),” NSW police said in a statement.
The 20-year-old winger is one of the Rabbitohs’ most promising young stars, having scored 13 tries from 19 career appearances.
He has been granted conditional bail to appear in Burwood Local Court on October 30.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs issued a statement following Munro’s arrest.
“The South Sydney Rabbitohs are aware of an alleged incident and subsequent police charges against player Tyrone Munro,” the club said in a statement.
“The Club has informed the NRL Integrity Unit about the alleged incident and the charges.
“The Rabbitohs take all allegations of domestic violence very seriously and will take appropriate action if the allegations and charges are proven.
“As this is a police matter, the Rabbitohs will be making no further comment at this stage.”
