Oh to be a Gooner! Arsenal claims elusive Premier League title
Arsenal are champions of the Premier League for season 2025/26.
The Gunners have claimed their first title since 2004 after Manchester City drew with Bournemouth this morning.
City needed a win to send the title race to the final day of the season but were unable to do so, with Erling Haaland’s injury time goal only bringing the scores level at the Vitality Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners defeated Burnley 1-0 at home on Tuesday morning AEST to move five points clear at the summit. That lay down the gauntlet for Pep Guardiola’s City who had to win at Bournemouth to maintain a title hope.
But the North Londoners will head to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on the final day in full celebration mode.
It’s their 14th English league title and fourth in the Premier League era. Their most recent top flight premiership was won with Arsene Wenger at the helm more than 20 years ago.
Arsenal have gone on a journey in seven seasons under Arteta, finishing 8th, 8th, 5th, then second in three straight season, before finally breaking the hoodoo.
Decades of torment and near misses are now over.
Next on the agenda after their last league fixture is the Champions League Final against Paris Saint-Germain in Hungary on Sunday, May 31 (2am AEST).
