City suffer shock home defeat as star striker gets off the mark in home debut
Tottenham have continued their winning ways to begin the new Premier League campaign after coming away with a 2-0 win over Manchester City away from home overnight.
The Thomas Frank led side did all of the grunt work in the first half, scoring both of their goals before halftime.
Strikes to Brennan Johnson (35th minute) and Joao Palhinha (45th minute) were the difference makers in the end as the Spurs make it two wins in a row against City away from home.
It’s the first time a Premier League side has done that to Manchester City since Manchester United did it in 2021.
Bournemouth walked away 1-0 winners against Wolves in their first home game of the season after Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring inside the first five minutes of the game.
Wolverhampton did well to only walk away with the one goal conceded from there as Bournemouth continued to dominate the contest. The Cherries finished that contest with 14 shots to 6.
Aston Villa are still yet to score a goal this season after they went down to Brentford away from home.
Brentford fans would be proud of the performance for the first home game of the season after the way they formed in their opening game of the season away from home to Nottingham Forest.
Dango Ouattara’s strike in the 12th minute was the only thing separating the two sides, despite Villa having eight more shots at goal for the game.
Burnley have recorded their first victory of the season after knocking off Sunderland 2-0 at home overnight.
In what was an arm wrestle of a first half, the Clarets did well to find a way to score twice in the second half in order to run away with the three points.
A classy strike from the skipper Josh Cullen (47th minute) got the Clarets under way, before Jaidon Anthony (88th minute) put the game to bed for the home side late.
And Arsenal have made it two from two to begin their 2025 Premier League campaign after smashing Leeds united 5-0.
The Gunners’ premier signing in the off-season Viktor Gyökeres capped off his debut game at the Emirates in style, bagging a brace that included a penalty in the 90th minute.
Arsenal now sit currently at the top of the table, with their arch rivals Tottenham hot on their heals in second, only separated by goal difference.
Still to come, Crystal Palace can move into the top four tonight if they’re able to knock off a Nottingham Forest side who is looking to go to the top of the table themselves.
Whilst Everton host their first ever Premier League game at their new home stadium when they take on Brighton at home.
Manchester United will look to bounce back from their defeat last week to Arsenal when they take on Fulham away overnight.
And in the early hours of Tuesday night, Liverpool travel to Newcastle in what looms to be a belter of a matchup to round out Matchday 2.
