SENZ • August 8th, 2024 3:00 pm
After Day 12, New Zealand currently sits 13th on the Olympic medal table with three golds, six silver, and a bronze medal.
Day 13 sees Maddi Wesche lining up in the women's shot put qualifiers, James Preston races for a chance to go further in the men's 800m out of the repechage, plus Maia Ramsden looks to continue her incredible form seen on the NCAA circuit to the grand stage set at Stade de France in the women's 1500m semi-finals.
New Zealand's track cycling schedule has Aaron Gate in the men's Omnium, plus Ellesse Andrews and Rebecca Petch vying for medals in the women's Keirin at Saint Quentin en Yvelines Veldrome.
Vaires sur Marne Nautical Stadium could also witness another golden day on the water for the Kiwis - the women's K-4 team of Lisa Carrington, Olivia Brett, Alicia Hoskin and Tara Vaughan gear up for their final at 11.40pm Thursday night (NZT).
Arguably one of the coolest sports to watch these Olympics has been the speed climbing, and NZ's own Julian David, with his world-beating determination, represents another medal chance.
Plus, Micah Wilkinson & Erica Dawson will be looking to finally compete in the mixed Nacra medal race after unfavourable wind conditions delayed proceedings yesterday.
Be sure to check in with senzradio.nz each day for your Olympic fix with fixtures, results, plus on the ground reaction from Paris with guests joining both Scotty & Izzy and The Run Home with Kirst & Beav at opposite ends of the day on SENZ.

RESULTS
New Zealand is sitting 12th on the Olympic medal table at Paris 2024 with two gold medals and a bronze added to the tally through Day 13. That's now five golds, six silvers and two bronze medals.
GolfLydia Ko carded a strong second round at Le Golf National with six birdies to one bogey, finishing five-under par to be alone in 3rd, three strokes back from the leader, Switzerland's Morgane Metraux.
Cycling - TrackEllesse Andrews was the highlight of the Kiwis at the velodrome on Day 13, her gold medal-winning ride in the women's keirin secured New Zealand's first gold in a track cycling event since Athens 2004.
Andrews narrowly defeated the Netherland's Hetty van de Wouw and Great Britain's Emma Finucane who were +0.062 and +0.092 behind respectively, and will now look to add to her medal haul in the individual sprints event.

AthleticsIn the women's shot put, Maddi Wesche was one of three to register an attempt greater than the automatic qualifiying distance of 21.15m. The 25-year-old's 21.25m on her second attempt books her a spot in Saturday morning's final (5am NZT).
In the men's 800m, James Preston placed 8th in the repechage and won't progress through to the semi-finals.
Maia Ramsden continues to show that she's one to watch for the future with an impressive run in the women's 1500m semi-final, her 8th-placed finish sees her exit, but the 22-year-old's time of 4:02.20 broke her own national record in the process.
Canoe/Kayak - SprintThe crew of Lisa Carrington, Olivia Brett, Alicia Hoskin & Tara Vaughan proved that they are the gold standard in the women's K-4 500m final, their time of 1:32.20 put them ahead of Germany (1:32.62) and Hungary (1:32.93).
However, the success didn't carry over to the men's K-4 crew. Max Brown, Hamish Legarth, Grant Clancy & Kurtis Imrie finished 4th in their semi-final, before crossing the line last in the final.
