Paris 2024: NZ remain 12th on medal table with Sailing silver, Athletics off to strong start
Day 7 marks the arrival of the Kiwi athletics contingent at Paris 2024, including the likes of shot put stars Tom Walsh and Jacko Gill, as well as sprinter Zoe Hobbs.
On the water, Jo Aleh and Molly Meech will race for gold in the 49er FX medal race, as will Isaac McHardie and William McKenzie in the 49er.
Jackie Kiddle and Shannon Cox will try to continue New Zealand's sizzling run in the rowing, racing in the final of the women's lightweight double sculls.
Meanwhile, Dylan Schmidt will try to bounce to the podium for a second straight Olympics in the men's trampoline.

RESULTS
JudoIn the women's +78kg elimination rounds, S__ydnee Andrews__ was defeated by Bosnia and Herzegovina's Larisa Ceric 10-0.
SwimmingErika Fairweather continues her quest for a medal, finishing 3rd in her heat of the women's 800m freestyle to progress through to the final. Eve Thomas was 5th in her women's 800m freestyle heat and failed to qualify, as did Cameron Gray with a 6th-placed finish in the men's 100m butterfly heats.
AthleticsIt was mostly positive news for Kiwi supporters as the track and field events take hold at Stade de France.
Zoe Hobbs ran a season's best of 11.08 to finish 2nd in her heat of the women's 100m, automatically qualifying for the semi-finals and sitting as the 14th fastest in the competition.
Sam Tanner goes into the repechage after finishing 13th in his heat of the men's 1500m.
In the men's shotput, both Jacko Gill and Tom Walsh have qualified for Sunday morning's final (NZT). Gill was 4th in Group A with a best throw of 21.35m. In Group B, Walsh was 2nd at 21.48m. Italy's Leonardo Fabbri is currently setting the benchmark with a top throw of 21.76m amongst all qualifiers.

GolfAfter round two, there's a three-way tie for 1st between USA's Xander Schauffele, Japan's Hideki Matsuyama and Great Britain's Tommy Fleetwood.
Ryan Fox shot two-over par at Le Golf National to be two-under and T30 at the halfway point of the no-cut tournament. Daniel Hillier also shot two-over as his struggles continued at Le Golf National, sitting 59th at six-over, with only Colombia's Camilo Villegas behind him on the leaderboard.
GymnasticsFollowing on from his bronze medal-winning performance at the Tokyo 2020 Games, Dylan Schmidt qualified fourth for the men's trampoline final in Paris. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old crashed out to finish eighth.
With his Olympic campaign over, Schmidt revealed that he planned to stay on and support other Kiwis including Ryan Fox in the golf.
In the women's trampoline final, Maddie Davidson was 7th.

SailingThe sailing team banked New Zealand's latest medal with a silver in the 49er class, Isaac McHardie & Will McKenzie placed 3rd in the medal race to finish 2nd overall.
In the 49erFX medal race, Jo Aleh & Molly Meech finished 4th to be 7th overall.
In the men's dinghy, Tom Saunders was 10th in race 3 and 7th in race 4 to sit 5th overall with six races remaining. Meanwhile in the women's event, Greta Pilkington was 34th in race 2 and 41st in race 3 to be 36th overall, leaving a significant mountain to climb in her remaining seven races.
RowingIn the women's lightweight double sculls final, Jackie Kiddle & Shannon Cox narrowly missed out on bronze with a time of 6:51.65, Greece (6:49.28) took that medal, while Romania (6:48.78) and Great Britain (6:47.06) won silver and gold respectively.
Canoe - SlalomIn the men's time trials for the kayak cross event, Finn Butcher (67.74) finished 6th fastest to progress through. Great Britain's Joseph Clarke set the benchmark at 66.08.
In the women's time trials, Luuka Jones (72.10) was 4th fastest to advance. Australia's Jess Fox (70.84) continues in her hunt for more medals to be 2nd, while France's Camille Prigent was fastest with a time of 70.33.
Hockey
The
Black Sticks men's side fell to Ireland 2-1 to finish up their time at Paris 2024.
BMX RacingIn the men's semi-final heats, Rico Bearman finished 11th to be knocked out of medal contention.
